Therapeutic approach

Compassion-Focused Therapy(CFT)

Compassion-Focused Therapy(CFT) supports a safer and more encouraging way of relating to yourself, particularly when shame, self-criticism or threat sensitivity is strong.

How it works

The work explores how protective patterns developed, strengthens the capacity to respond with wisdom and care, and reduces the dominance of a harsh inner critic.

What it may involve

  • understanding threat and self-protection
  • compassionate imagery or attention
  • working with the inner critic
  • developing a supportive inner voice

It may be considered for

  • shame and self-criticism
  • perfectionism
  • trauma-related protective responses
  • difficulty receiving care or kindness

How it may be used at Kaeva

Compassion-focused work may be integrated with CBT, mindfulness, trauma therapy or body-oriented approaches when a gentler way of engaging with distress is needed.

Finding the right fit matters

No single approach is right for every person or concern. Your counsellor will consider safety, readiness, preferences, goals and whether the approach fits their training and scope.
