Therapeutic approach

Dialectical Behavior Therapy(DBT)-Informed Therapy

DBT-informed therapy draws on selected Dialectical Behavior Therapy(DBT) principles and skills to support emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness and relationships.

How it works

The approach balances acceptance and change. Sessions may identify high-intensity patterns, practise concrete skills and apply them to current situations.

What it may involve

  • mindfulness skills
  • distress-tolerance strategies
  • emotion-regulation skills
  • interpersonal-effectiveness practice

It may be considered for

  • intense or rapidly changing emotions
  • reactive coping patterns
  • relationship conflict
  • difficulty tolerating distress

How it may be used at Kaeva

Kaeva offers DBT-informed counselling rather than a comprehensive DBT program. It does not include the full standard package of individual DBT, skills groups, between-session coaching and a consultation team.

Finding the right fit matters

No single approach is right for every person or concern. Your counsellor will consider safety, readiness, preferences, goals and whether the approach fits their training and scope.
