Therapeutic approach
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing(EMDR)
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing(EMDR) is a structured trauma therapy that uses a phased process and bilateral stimulation while working with distressing memories.
How it works
Before memory processing, the counsellor reviews suitability, develops preparation and stabilization resources, and agrees on pacing and ways to pause.
What it may involve
- history-taking and treatment planning
- preparation and resourcing
- bilateral stimulation
- processing and integration
It may be considered for
- distressing memories
- trauma-related triggers
- negative beliefs linked to past experiences
- persistent emotional or physical reactions
How it may be used at Kaeva
EMDR is not started automatically. Preparation, safety, stability, current circumstances and the counsellor's training are considered before trauma processing begins.
Finding the right fit matters
No single approach is right for every person or concern. Your counsellor will consider safety, readiness, preferences, goals and whether the approach fits their training and scope.
