View profileDiscuss emotional and personal concerns in the language that feels most natural to you. Kaeva offers culturally responsive counselling in Cantonese and Mandarin, with in-person options in Vancouver and secure online counselling across British Columbia where permitted.
Speaking in your preferred language can make it easier to describe emotions, family relationships, identity, migration experiences and culturally specific concerns. Your counsellor will not assume that everyone from a Chinese background has the same values or experiences. The work begins with your own story, goals and preferences.
Cantonese sessions can make it easier to discuss emotions, family expectations, migration experiences and relationship patterns without translating them into English. The counsellor will use natural conversational Cantonese and clarify terms when needed.
Mandarin sessions offer space to discuss personal concerns, family relationships and life changes in the language you use most comfortably. The counsellor will adapt language and pace rather than assume one shared cultural experience.
All three Kaeva counsellors offer services in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. Their professional backgrounds and areas of emphasis differ, so compare their experience, approaches and appointment formats before booking.
