Therapeutic approach

Family Therapy

Family Therapy explores communication, roles, boundaries and interaction patterns within relationships and family systems.

How it works

The work considers how each person's responses affect the wider pattern, identifies strengths and supports clearer communication and more workable ways of relating.

What it may involve

  • mapping interaction patterns
  • clarifying roles and boundaries
  • practising communication
  • developing shared goals and agreements

It may be considered for

  • relationship and communication difficulties
  • caregiving strain
  • illness or major family transitions
  • conflict around roles, expectations or boundaries

How it may be used at Kaeva

Family participation depends on consent, safety and the counsellor's scope. Individual sessions may also explore family patterns when joint sessions are not appropriate.

Finding the right fit matters

No single approach is right for every person or concern. Your counsellor will consider safety, readiness, preferences, goals and whether the approach fits their training and scope.
