Counselling is adapted to the person rather than based on age alone. Sessions can focus on present concerns, past experiences, practical coping, relationships, strengths and sources of meaning. The pace and format are discussed collaboratively.
A family member may make a general enquiry, but counselling requires the client’s informed participation and consent. Privacy and communication arrangements are clarified before personal information is discussed.
They may be suitable when the client can use the technology privately and comfortably. Appointment format, accessibility and clinical fit should be discussed with the counsellor.
